Prints 2015 - Present
This surreal, dream-like print was created for my Intaglio class print exchange. The design is based on a collage inspired by a fortune cookie message I opened. The constellation in the sky was based on what I would be the stars in the sky the day of my class print exchange, and all of the elements are based on pictures I took: The fortune in my hand with one of my fuzzy blankets, a picture of my boyfriend in front of a large scale installation piece we saw while visiting the American University Katzen Center museum during the pandemic times, the sky with geese flying in formation during a sunset I took at the Hylton Performing Art Center parking lot before orchestra rehearsals, a goofy selfie from a good hair day, a picture of Alan Cumming I took of my tv screen while watching The Traitors. I like to imagine that Alan Cumming is reading my fortune to me in his Scottish accent. The far back black background that the night sky bleeds into is based on my living room carpet, which is harder to see in this particular pull of the print, but more evident in later pulls as the aquatint in the plate leveled out more.
