Catherine Cole: Collected Works
On view at Carroll Community College
Babylon Great Hall, 2/10/2020-6/6/2020
Opening Reception: Friday, 4/24, 4-7 PM (part of Art Open House)“As an identical twin, my desire to distinguish myself from my sister inspired me to do a series of art projects in which I attempted to show our differences. This led me to a longstanding interest in representation, in how to depict likenesses and express qualities beyond the immediate, superficial appearance of people, places and things.”
Manassas, VA-based mixed-media artist and printmaker Catherine Cole received her BA in Art and Art History with a concentration in Printmaking from the College of William & Mary and her MFA in Printmaking from RISD. Her work has been exhibited widely in the Rhode Island and the DMV area. She is currently an adjunct professor at George Mason University. She also plays viola in the Manassas Symphony Orchestra. Wood Lithography Demo Moved to November 7th
I am now giving the wood lithography demo at the George Mason University Printmakers Guild meeting on Saturday, November 7 from 12:30- 3:30pm.
I have been trying out this process that combines some of my favorite qualities of woodcuts and lithography, so I am going to show attendees the process- from drawing and carving, to etching, to printing, and more tips for working with this experimental print medium.
If you're a printmaker living in Northern Virginia/DC region, consider joining the guild- it's open not just to George Mason students, staff, and faculty, but to community members (like me!) as well! Visit their website here: GMU Printmakers Blog
